SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A Hartford man accused of driving drunk and killing a woman walking her dog has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Micah Ryan Giebler earlier pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence.
The 31-year-old Giebler was sentenced Monday afternoon in Second Circuit Court.
Giebler was intoxicated when he got behind the wheel last February and struck and killed 42-year-old Nichole Anderson, who was walking her dog in Hartford.
Anderson’s mother, Loretta Swanson, told the judge her daughter would have forgiven Giebler. Swanson says she prays for Giebler every day.
