South Dakota Float Appears in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

November 26, 2020

PIERRE, S.D. — For the eleventh year, South Dakota’s “Mount Rushmore’s American Pride” float will appear in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

American singer-songwriter Lauren Alaina has been announced as the talent on the float.

“Our family has been longtime fans of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade”, said Governor Kristi Noem. “This year, I hope families across South Dakota take time to reflect on all there is to be thankful for. I encourage families to slow down and enjoy simple delights. Take time to call those who aren’t celebrating with you in person and remind them you are grateful for them.”

In 2019, NBC reported that the parade was the most-watched entertainment program on TV since the Oscars that February. It is estimated that 50 million television viewers will watch the parade nationwide. The goal of this effort by the Department of Tourism is to generate brand awareness and inspire future travel to our state.

The float will make its national appearance on NBC-TV on Thursday, Nov. 26 between 9 a.m. and noon in all time zones.
