WATERTOWN, S.D.—The South Dakota Department of Transportation says it hopes to have a newly built bridge over the Big Sioux River in Watertown opened up to traffic late next week.

The old bridge was demolished as part of the Highway 212 reconstruction project that stretches from Highway 81 to Highway 20.

Project Engineer Bryce Olson….

He says the final concrete pour at the bridge site was completed Thursday….

A second phase of Highway 212 construction will take place in 2021, when construction crews tear up and re-build the highway between Highway 81 and 19th Street East. There are no bridges along that stretch.
