Some Watertown businesses closed starting today under emergency ordinance (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.—Today’s the day many non-essential businesses in Watertown must remain closed under an emergency ordinance passed by the city council earlier this week.

Mayor Sarah Caron spoke at a press briefing Wednesday…

The mayor says there’s a penalty for businesses that remain open in violation of the ordinance…

Caron says she expects the businesses that are required to be closed to do that by policing themselves…

South Dakota has reported 41 cases of the COVID-19 virus. Just one case has been reported in Codington County.
