SOFTBALL: Watertown splits games at Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown would sweep the weekend against Rapid City Central but fall twice against Rapid City Stevens this past weekend.

On Friday, Watertown would open play with a 10-5 win against Rapid Central.  Brooklyn Gronau would take the W on the hill issuing three K’s.  Kinsley VanGilder, Hannah Leverson, and Gronau would all go 2-4 on the night.   Game two Friday would see the purple and gold fall to Rapid Stevens 5-2.  Jada Brown fanned nine while taking the L on the mound.  Gronau would go 3-3 at the plate.

Saturday would see the Arrows fall to Stevens 10-1.  Gronau would go four innings and strike out two.  Kinsley VanGilder finished the night on the mound.  Gronau, Lade Lund and Hannah Leverson went 1-2 at the plate.  Watertown would end the weekend with a 6-2 win over Rapid Central.  Avery Palmquist and Lily Pressler went 2-3 at the plate while Jada Brown fanned four on the mound in the winning effort.

Watertown will travel to number one Harrisburg on Tuesday, September 14th.
