BROOKINGS, S.D. (GoJacks.com) — The Jackrabbit softball program released its 2020 schedule Wednesday afternoon, featuring 55 contests with 13 home games on the docket.

The Jackrabbits open their season in similar fashion to the last five campaigns, traveling to the Doc Halverson UNI Dome Classic (Feb. 7-8) for four contests. From there, SDSU fills out its February calendar with two new invitationals, the Scrap Yard College Softball Classic (Feb. 14-16) in Houston, Texas and the Razorback Invitational (Feb. 21-23) in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Opponents at the three tournaments include: DePaul, Murray State, Northern Iowa and Drake (UNI Dome Classic), UAB, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas-Corpus Christi and McNeese State (Scrap Yard Classic), and Montana, Arkansas, Boston University and Marist (Razorback Invitational).

A 10-day spring break sends SDSU to Madeira, Florida for 13 more games. The Jacks will play neutral site contests with Toledo (twice) and Butler on the trip, and face Florida Gulf Coast, Iowa, Loyola Chicago, Holy Cross, Merrimack, Ohio, Central Michigan, Indiana and Toledo as part of THE Spring Games 2020 event.

Summit League play begins with a three-game set at Purdue Fort Wayne, March 21-22, before a long-awaited home opening series March 28-29 against North Dakota State.

A break in league action sends the Jackrabbits to Nebraska (March 31), Creighton (April 1) and Iowa State (April 4-5) for a two-game invitational where SDSU will face the Cyclones and Northern Colorado (twice).

The Jacks return to Summit League action at Western Illinois the following weekend, April 10-11.

Creighton comes to town April 14 as part of a home-and-away series with SDSU, and after an April 18-19 series with North Dakota the Jackrabbits will play their final nonleague games at home, April 21 against Kansas City.

South Dakota State concludes its home slate April 25-26 against Omaha, and the final league series of the season pits the Jackrabbits against in-state rival South Dakota (May 1-2) for a SD Corn Showdown Series weekend.

Dates of interest for Jackrabbits fans include April 18 (Senior Day), April 21 (Faculty Appreciation Day) and April 25 (Alumni Day).

The league’s top six teams advance to the Summit League Championship, held May 6-9 in Fargo, North Dakota, with the tournament winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
