FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (KFGO KVRR) – A six-year-old boy died after he was mauled by a dog Sunday on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation in Fort Totten in northeastern North Dakota.

Sources say the FBI and other law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances that led up to the attack.

They say the dog, which was captured, did not have a history of being aggressive.

The name of the boy has not been released.

Tribal leadership has long been concerned about the number of stray dogs on the reservation.
