April 19, 2023

ABERDEEN – South Dakota U.S. Attorney Alison Ramsdell has announced that a federal grand jury has indicted a Sisseton man for First Degree Murder in a killing that occurred more than thirty years ago.

Fifty seven year-old Jay Adams Junior appeared before Judge Daneta Wollmann on Monday, and pleaded not guilty to the Indictment.

If Adams is convicted, he’ll spend the rest of his life in prison.

The Indictment alleges that on or about September 4, 1992, in Roberts County, Adams killed a minor victim by inflicting fatal blunt force trauma. It follows an investigation by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribal Police Department and the FBI.

Adams was released on conditions pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
