WATERTOWN, S.D.–A stretch of 10th Avenue North in Watertown gets reconstructed this summer between Highway 81 and Prairie Lakes Hospital.

The work will also include new sidewalks on properties that don’t have them now, or have ones that are not ADA-compliant.

On Tuesday night, the Watertown City Council approved a tax assessment for the 23 homeowners who’ll need new sidewalks.

City Engineer Heath VonEye…

Councilman Bruce Buhler asked whether those homeowners could put in the sidewalks themsevles. While they can, Mayor Sarah Caron says it would be more cost-effective to have the city do it…

The one councilmember who voted against the assessment was Glen Vilhauer..

The assessment passed on a 9-1 vote.
