WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council meets a day later than normal today due to Monday’s Juneteenth holiday.
The council will consider a bid from Dakotatronics for end rink and center hung scoreboards in the $36 million Prairie Lakes Ice Arena that’s under construction. The cost of the scoreboards, including installation by Stein Sign, is just over $400,000. The scoreboards need to be purchased now in order to have them installed by the time the arena opens late this year.
The city will also consider bids to sell its portable stage known as the, “showmobile.”
Travas Uthe submitted the high bid of $15,010. Other bids were submitted by Tom Boldt ($15,000), Joy Ranch ($10,000) and Dale Plunkett ($8,500).
The city declared the showmobile surplus property recently. Uthe’s bid to purchase it, if approved, ensures people or organizations who’ve already reserved it for events this year, will still be able to use it if he owns it. That list includes Access Ministries, Bramble Park Zoo, Mavericks and Shooters.
Today’s council meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall.
