Sheriff’s departments in southeast North Dakota warn of counterfeit bills being passed at businesses

WAHPETON, N.D.–The Richland and Sargent County Sheriff’s Deptartments have issued a joint alert after $650 in counterfeit bills were passed at various businesses.

The counterfeits are both $50 and $100 bills. The departments say the investigation is ongoing and no additional information will be released.

They’re advising businesses to go to https://www.uscurrency.gov/for instructions on how to check a bills’ authenticity.
