Severe thunderstorms rock northeast South Dakota  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Severe thunderstorms rocked northeast South Dakota this morning.

The main components of the storms were extremely heavy rain and damaging winds.

One of the hard hit communities is Doland, where Bubba Sell lives, and is a severe storm spotter…

A peak wind gust of 75 miles per hour was recorded at Watertown Regional Airport when the storms moved through a little after 10: o’clock.

Steve Fleegel is with the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen….

There have been numerous reports of tree damage, scattered power outages, and rainfall amounts in excess of an inch.

Watertown received 1.26 inches of rain.
