WATERTOWN, S.D.–South Dakota Senate President Lee Schoebeck dropped by the KWAT Studios Monday to talk about proposed carbon capture pipelines that would cut through South Dakota.

Tomorrow (Tuesday), the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission begins hearings on the Navigator Pipeline. Later this fall, hearings will be held on a CO2 pipeline proposed by Summit Carbon Solutions.

There have been calls by some landowners and state lawmakers for a special legislative session to deal with private property rights and eminent domain, which may be used by the companies to secure land for their pipeline routes.
