SDHSAA board approves summer contact guidelines, continues to kick can down the road with football

PIERRE, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The Board of Directors of the South Dakota High School Activities Association held a special meeting on Thursday, May 28th.

In the meeting, the board approved modified summer contact guidelines to be rolled out in three phases due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Schools may resume activities on June 1.

The board also voted 8-0 to form a new football sub-committee that would present the board with a five-class and a six-class high school football proposal by November 1, 2020.  The sub-committee would be represented by all current classes of high school sports and geographical areas of the state.
