DENR updates water quality report on Upper Big Sioux River (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources has issued an updated report on water quality in the upper Big Sioux River.
Jay Gilbertson, Manager of the East Dakota Water Development District, says the report shows not much has changed……
The region studied is the Big Sioux River north of Watertown. Gilbertson says most prairie rivers have similar issues and restrictions….
Gilbertson says pollution levels are stabilizing…..
The report says high ag land and livestock runoff into the river is a major contributor to the bacteria issues.
