WATERTOWN, S.D.–The red wave predicted by some during last week’s midterm elections did not materialize nationally, but it certainly did in South Dakota.

It was a dominating day at the polls, where Republicans won every statewide office by large margins, and continue their stronghold on seats in the state Legislature…

District 5 Republican Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown was unopposed for another term. He says when all the votes were counted last week, it showed Republicans holding 94 of the 105 seats in the Legislature…

Shoenbeck tells KWAT News the upcoming session will feature some spirited debate among Republicans on tax cuts…

Schoenbeck will serve as Senate President when the session begins in early January.
