WATERTOWN, S.D.–Don Rowland has been appointed the new fire chief of Watertown Fire Rescue.
The city council approved the appointment on a unanimous vote Monday night.
Rowland took time to thank his predecessor–Doug Kranz–who’s retiring at the end of the month.
Rowland called him a great friend and mentor, and says he’s now ready to accept the challenge of moving from assistant chief to chief…
Rowland assumes the chief’s position at 5 p.m. on May 31st.
The council also appointed Darci Nichols as the city’s Human Resources Director. She starts on June 1st.
