Ribbon cutting at new Watertown airport terminal scheduled for August 26th

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The final weekend of August will be a busy one at Watertown Regional Airport.

 

An aerial ribbon cutting on the new terminal building will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday August 26th.

 

The ribbon cutting will be done by an airplane in mid air, along with a water salute for the first inbound plane at the new terminal at 4:30 that afternoon.

 

The new terminal will be about 25,000 square feet in size–or more than double the size of the current terminal.

 

Gray Construction of Watertown has been the general contractor on the project.

 

On August 27th, an event called “Kites, Flights and Bites” will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

 

There will be airplane rides, inflatables, water rocket launches, live music and free kites, while supplies last. along with airline ticket giveaways.

 

Food and beverage trucks will also be on site that day.
