Retired 102-year-old Chicago teacher dons hazmat suit to cast her ballot by mail
A 102-year-old former Chicago teacher wasn’t going to let anything stand in her way of voting.
Beatrice Lumpkin showed up to mail her ballot in a pink and white, full-service hazmat suit last week.
A picture on the Chicago Teachers Union’s Twitter account was captioned “If Bea can do it, anyone can do it. Vote!”
Up until the pandemic hit, she still regularly attended protests to help fight for teachers’ rights.
