WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown has 10 bridges, each of which is inspected every other year to determine its safety.
At Monday night’s city council meeting, Chris Brozik, a Vice President for Civil Design Incorporated of Brookings said the five inspected this year are in excellent shape.
Three of the bridges inspected this go around were on the 20th Avenue South bypass. Another was on South Broadway, and the fifth was on Willow Creek Drive.
Brozik says all of them get a passing grade…
Brozik told the council that bridges constructed today can expect to have a life expectancy of at least 75 years, although that can vary depending on traffic loads and maintenance.
