WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council received a report Monday night on the structural intergity of half of the 10 bridges within the city.

Adam Hanson is an engineer with Brookings-based Banner Associates, which conducted the study on five bridges in Watertown…

He says in most instances, they found just some minor issues that will need to be corrected….

Hanson says they’re monitoring a couple of bridges. One is near Kampeska Lodge that has a box culvert underneath the driving surface…

The federal government requires bridges to be inspected every two years minimum.

The state pays for 80-percent of the inspection costs, with the city picking up the other 20-percent.
