WATERTOWN, S.D.–A major street repair project in Watertown will start next week.
Mayor Sarah Caron says contractors on the 10th Avenue North reconstruction project have been given the official, “notice to proceed.”
She says signage will be going up today, and the actual construction work will begin a week from today, April 19th.
A nine-block stretch of 10th Avenue will be re-built with a concrete road surface from Prairie Lakes Hospital to Highway 81.
Timmons Construction of Brookings was awarded the bid for just over two million dollars.
The city will conduct public information meetings on the project every other Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the Watertown Police Department Community Room beginning April 29th.
During the meetings, contractors and staff will be updating the public and landowners on the progress of the project, and the anticipated schedule for the upcoming two week period. The public meetings will continue every other Thursday through November 26th.
Tenth Avenue is Watertown’s sixth-busiest street, seeing about 5,000 vehicles a day on average.
