Questions remain on how best to spend federal dollars

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) — The State of South Dakota got about one point two billion dollars from the federal government in CARES Act funding in response to the pandemic.

Millions of dollars are still unspent and Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says legislators have been talking about that

Hunhoff, who will move to the Senate and Chair the Appropriations Committee next year, says they had questions about the lack of applications for the grant funds

Hunhoff says they didn’t get clear answers if the money can be held past the first of the year

The interim Joint Committee on Appropriations doesn’t have any more scheduled meetings this year.
