BROOKINGS, S.D.–A pursuit that began near Ivanhoe, Minnesota Wednesday morning tore through Brookings County and ended south of Colman in Moody County.
Assistant Brookings County Sheriff Scott Sebring says it started shortly before 9:00 a.m. when the Lincoln County, Minnesota Sheriff’s Office observed drug activity.
The SUV hit speeds of 100 miles an hour on South Dakota Highway 30. A Brookings County Deputy took over the pursuit east of White.
The suspect drove onto Interstate I29 and headed south and then continued onto rural and gravel roads in Moody County.
The SUV went several miles before entering a property about two miles south of Colman. A resident was able to secure herself in a bedroom.
Law enforcement conducted a search and found the man in a shed. He was identified as 39-year-old Coty Tellinghuisen of Pipestone, Minnesota.
He was arrested and taken to the Brookings jail for Aggravated Eluding, Reckless Driving, Burglary and five warrants out of Minnesota.
The chase went some 70 miles and it’s believed Tellinghuisen stopped because he ran out of gas.
