WATERTOWN, S.D.—Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron was on KWAT’s What’s Up today to discuss how the city is maneuvering through the COVID-19 crisis.

The city has kept nearly all of its buildings open during the pandemic, with the exception of the public library.

Caron explains why Watertown has chosen to keep the city-owned and operated Prairie Lakes Wellness Center open as coronavirus cases continue to climb in South Dakota and nationally…..

The mayor also explained why the library was shut down this week….

Watertown has a number of big projects in the hopper right now—a new airport terminal, phase two of U.S. Highway 212 reconstruction, and a potential new ice arena. Caron says this pandemic will likely delay some, or maybe all of those….

South Dakota has 14 positive cases of coronavirus—but none in the far northeast corner of the state.
