Potential flooding on Big Sioux River and Lake Kampeska

May 6, 2020

WATERTOWN, S.D.–More than an inch and a half of rain this week will push the Big Sioux River higher.

Roger Foote with the Upper Big Sioux Watershed Project says the river is experiencing higher flows than normal for this time of year.

Lake Kampeska is not expected to reach flood stage. However, a rise of a foot or more is possible.

The river through Watertown will also experience higher flows and some minor flooding may occur.
