Post 17 opens season with two wins over Aberdeen

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 began their season with two with victories over the Aberdeen Smittys.
Post 17 knocked in eight runs in the first inning of game one en route to a 13-3 win. Mason Evans would lead the way at the plate with 3 RBI’s, Dawson Schmit and Braxton Lacher would each contribute two and Mason Morris, Evan Falconer, and Mason Lloyd would send in one run each.
Lexon Thorson took the win for Watertown in game one. He lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out five in 61 pitches.
Watertown would tally 11 hits in game two for a 7-5 win over Aberdeen. Peyton Johnston would drive in two RBI’s in the game. Kade Russell, Zach Hirsch, Falconer, and Schmidt would each add one
Kale Stevenson would go the distance in game two throwing three innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out six in 63 pitches.
Watertown (2-0) remains home on Tuesday, June 9th for a doubleheader vs Fargo Post 400. First pitches scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m.
