Post 17 opens season with two losses at West Fargo

WEST FARGO, N.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would open their season with two road losses Monday at West Fargo. Finals 7-4 in game one and 7-6 in game two.

Game one would see West Fargo get out to a big six run third inning and never look back.  Andrew Czech led Watertown Post 17 with two hits in two at bats. Kale Stevenson took the loss on the hill going two innings, allowing one run on two hits, and striking out three

Game two was tied at six with West Fargo batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run for West Fargo. Watertown totaled seven hits in game two. Jack Heesch and Braxton Lacher each collected two hits to lead Post 17. Zach Hirsch started the game on the mound for the purple and gold going three innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out three and walking one. Connor Hanson took the loss lasting one and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and two runs.

Watertown Post 17 (0-2) travels to Fargo Davies for a double-header at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, May 1st.
