FARGO, N.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would go 3-1 at the Fargo Tournament this past weekend.
On Friday, Watertown would defeat Excelsior, Minnesota Two, 7-5. Jayden Cordell would collect two RBI’s in the game and Mason Morris would add two hits and one RBI. Lexan Thorson earned the victory on the hill as he allowed five hits, five runs, striking out three over six and two-third innings.
Watertown would earn a 7-4 win over Le Sueur, Minnesota in game one of Saturday. Kade Russell would contribute two RBI’s on the day. Easton Thury took the win on the mound going four innings, allowing seven hits, and three runs while striking out three.
Game two on Saturday would see Post 17’s only loss of the Fargo Tournament, falling to West Fargo for the second time this season, 6-0. Mason Morris would take the loss on the mound going five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out two and walking one.
Sunday would see a 10-4 victory for Post 17 over Hopkins, Minnesota. Peyton Johnston would have a monster afternoon sending in five runs. Dawson Schmidt would plate 3 RBI’s. Zach Hirsch was the winning pitcher going the distance, seven innings, surrendering four runs on five hits, striking out three and walking one.
Watertown Post 17 (12-8) comes home July 1st for two games, Pierre at 1 p.m. and Fargo Post 2 at 6 p.m. Game one on Wednesday will be broadcast on New Country KS93 and game two will be aired on The Talk of Watertown, 1480 KSDR-AM. Both games will have video at GoWatertown.net/Post17.
