PIERRE, S.D.–United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Pierre man convicted of Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm was sentenced on July 20, 2020, by Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange, U.S. District Court.

Twenty seven year-old Kyle Bordeaux was sentenced to time served, totaling 144 days in federal prison, two years of supervised release, a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100, and ordered to forfeit a .45 AUTO caliber, semi-automatic pistol.

Bordeaux was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 11, 2020. He pled guilty on May 5, 2020.

The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on March 16, 2019, in Hughes County, where Bordeaux knowingly being an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance, knowingly possessed a .45 AUTO caliber, semi-automatic pistol.
