Pierre man enters plea in woman’s stabbing death

PIERRE, S.D.–A Pierre man charged in the death of a Rapid City woman in November has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

David Shangreaux, Jr. entered not guilty pleas to a charge of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault.

Judge Christina Klinger noted that prosecutors from the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office have indicated that they will not seek the death penalty in the case.

Shangreaux is seeking a jury trial. A trial date has not been set.

He’s charged in the stabbing death of 17 year-old Evie Maxey at a Pierre apartment on November 30th.
