WATERTOWN, S.D.–A peaceful protest Saturday night on the west lawn of the Codington County Courthouse in reaction to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

About 100 protesters gathered, many carrying “Black Lives Matter” signs, and listened to several of them talk about racial injustice.

Watertown police, Codington County Sheriff’s deputies and South Dakota Highway Patrolmen were station nearby, just in case.

A similar protest was held Friday night in Watertown when a smaller group of protesters was spotted on the northwest corner of the courthouse block holding signs.
