Pair of drownings reported in region on Independence Day

YANKTON, S.D.–The body of a teen age male drowning victim was recovered from Lake Yankton, below Gavins Point Dam, about 8:35 Sunday night, following several hours of searching.
The call for help came in about 3:30 Sunday afternoon. Dive teams from Yankton, Mitchell and Sioux Falls were involved in the search.
Also assisting in the search was the Nebraska State Patrol; South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks; the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office; Yankton County EMS; Yankton County Emergency Management; Cedar County (Neb.) Emergency Management; and the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Meanwhile, a 28 year-old man drowned Sunday night in a lake in central Minnesota.
The man was fishing off a dock on North Long Lake in Kandiyohi County and went into the water to retrieve a bobber.
He began to struggle and went under. His body was found in the lake but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
