Ortonville man dies during tree removal project

ORTONVILLE, Minn.–An accident involving a piece of heavy equipment has killed an Ortonville, Minnesota man.
Big Stone County Sheriff Mark Brown says 71 year-old Mark Nathan Block was operating an excavator during a tree removal process on Friday afternoon in Akron Township east of Ortonville when a tree smashed into the cab area of the excavator.
Block was dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
Assisting agencies at the scene included the Odessa and Ortonville fire departments and Ortonville Ambulance Service.
