One person killed in crash southeast of Madison

MADISON, S.D.–One person was killed Friday afternoon in a two vehicle crash six miles southeast of Madison.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a car was westbound when it failed to stop at an intersection. It collided with a car that  was southbound on Highway 19. 

Both occupants of the southbound vehicle had to be extricated from the wreckage. The 69 year-old male passenger was dead at the scene. The 61 year-old female driver had serious injuries  and was taken to the Madison Hospital.

The other car was driven by a 16 year-old  boy and carried a 16 year-old male passenger. They received  minor  injuries  and were taken to the Madison Hospital.

All four people were wearing seat belts. No names have been  released.
