One person dead in Madison house fire

MADISON, S.D.–One person is dead following a house fire in Madison, South Dakota Monday night. It’s the third deadly accident in Madison and Lake County in the past ten days, following a fatal motorcycle accident and the death of a young girl on Lake Madison last week.
Madison Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said when the first crews responded to the fire in the 300 block of Harth Avenue North, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Crews entered the home once they learned there was still an individual inside, but were unable to rescue them in time.
The victim is an adult female, whose name has not been released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
