NSAA opens softball tournament in Watertown today

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – The North Star Athletic Association will hold its softball tournament this weekend at the PREMIER Softball Complex in Watertown.
All eight NSAA teams will play in the tournament, which features a double-elimination format.

This is the third NSAA postseason tournament to be held in Watertown this year. Commissioner of the NSAA Roger Ternes talks about what keeps the North Star coming back to Watertown:

The PREMIER Softball complex was built for slowpitch softball. Ternes says some adjustments had to be made to accommodate the collegiate fastpitch game:

The full tournament field features the one seed Bellvue facing the eight seed Viterbo, the two seed Valley City State facing the seven seed Presentation, three seeded Dakota State taking on the six seed Waldorf, and the four seed Dickinson State taking on the five seed Mayville.

The tournament champion receives the NSAA’s automatic berth to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, which will be played on May 16-18 on campus sites announced by the NAIA.
