WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — NAIA college basketball comes to the Watertown Civic Arena this weekend for the North Star Athletic Association final four tournaments.
NSAA Commissioner Roger Ternes says the tournament features players from all over the world:
The NSAA Women’s Final Four on Saturday will see the one seed Dakota State face the four seed Dickinson State at 1 p.m. That will be followed by the three seed Mayville State taking on the six seed Bellevue at 3 p.m. Commissioner Ternes says the women’s tournament is well balanced and is led by nationally ranked Dakota State:
The NSAA Men’s Final Four Saturday will see the one seed Viterbo face the five seed Dakota State at 6 p.m. and the two seed Bellevue take on the three seed valley City State at 8 p.m. Commissioner Terness says the men’s tournament is wide open. So wide open in fact, he had trouble telling us who could come out of the tournament to play for a championship:
The women’s championship will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, followed by the men at 4 p.m.
The NSAA postseason tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Basketball National Tournament’s opening round March 11-12th.
The North Star continues to bring their basketball final four, volleyball super six, and new this spring, softball tournaments to Watertown. Commissioner Ternes says the partnership between the NSAA and the City of Watertown continues to be a good marriage:
Brent Nathaniel will have coverage of all six NSAA games this weekend at PlayNorthStar.com.
