North Dakota PSC schedules public hearings on Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline

BISMARCK, N.D.–The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced it will hold four public hearings regarding a proposal to construct a carbon dioxide pipeline in North Dakota, starting next month.

Summit Carbon Solutions has requested a siting permit for the project which would consist of approximately 320 miles of carbon dioxide pipeline ranging from 4.5 to 24-inches in diameter.

In addition to the pipelines, the project will include the construction of aboveground facilities that will include pump stations, mainline valves, and permanent and temporary access roads.

The estimated cost of the project is $898 million.

The proposed pipeline would be built in parts of Burleigh, Cass, Dickey, Emmons, Logan, McIntosh, Morton, Oliver, Richland and Sargent Counties.

The first hearing will be at 8:30 in the morning on Tuesday, March 14 at the Heritage Center in Bismarck. Subsequent hearings will be in Gwinner, Wahpeton, and Linton.

The hearings are intended to provide an opportunity for members of the public to contribute to the PSC’s official record. Anyone with concerns, questions, support or opposition for the project are encouraged to attend a hearing and present their information.
