North Dakota officials studying impact of lightning strikes on oil spills (Audio)

BISMARCK, N.D.–North Dakota’s oil industry and oil regulators are trying to get a handle on oil spills caused by lightning strikes.
To that end, the Department of Mineral Resources is working on a new way of “incident reporting.” Mineral Resources director Lynn Helms briefed the state’s Industrial Commission about that.
Helms said he’s working with the Department of Environmental Quality with Disaster Emergency Services on the new incident report.
