BISMARCK, N.D.–The North Dakota House passed a bill that would require schools to designate their athletic teams and sports for male, female, or coed participation based on biological sex.

Those speaking for the bill argue it is about woman’s rights and opportunities. Scott Louser is a representative from Minot.

Opponents, such as Representative Jayme Davis of Rolette, say schools already have requirements for trans athletes that level the playing field.

The bill passed with 78 yeas and 15 nays.
