February 8, 2023

BISMARCK (KFGO) – The North Dakota House of Representatives on a 65-29 vote passed a bill Tuesday which would raise speed limits from 75 mph to 80 mph on most of Interstates 29 and 94.

One of the sponsors, Representative Ben Koppelman of West Fargo, said the bill would allow cities like Fargo and Bismarck to limit speeds on those interstates within the city limits.

Koppelman said the Department of Transportation will retain the ability to determine where the speed limit will be posted but a map prepared by the DOT shows most area’s are considered safe for the increased speed limit.

The Senate has not yet taken up the bill.
