PIERRE, S.D.–South Dakota’s COVID-19 count went up to 46 on Thursday. That’s an increase of five cases from the day before.

Governor Kristi Noem says the impact this pandemic has had on the state’s economy has been dramatic..….

She was asked about the 2.2 trillion dollar economic stimulus package the U.S. Senate passed this week to help states and individuals….

The South Dakota Medical Association sent a letter to the governor saying non-essential businesses like bars and restaurants should be closed.

Governor Noem has only “recommended” they limit gatherings to ten or fewer people, but left enforcement up to local cities and counties. And she’s standing by that decision, saying it was the right call…

The governor says there have been no additional cases of the virus at the state women’s prison in Pierre. That’s where an inmate tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week, and where the prison warden abruptly resigned after nine low-security inmates escaped.
