PIERRE, S.D.–One of the first orders of business for President Joe Biden Wednesday was to sign a flurry of executive orders.

One of them revokes the permit for construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, which would angle through a portion of western South Dakota.

Governor Kristi Noem is not happy with that move. Her office released a statement in which the governor said…

“It’s unfortunate that President Biden is not standing up for American jobs and energy independence.”

The pipeline was planned to carry Canadian oil to refineries along the Gulf coast and routed through South Dakota. Several construction camps and staging areas had already been set up in South Dakota.

Trans-Canada Energy, owners of Keystone XL, say they plan to challenge the revocation in court.
