SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was in Sioux Falls Monday afternoon, touring areas that were hit with violent protests last night.

 

A peaceful protest over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of a police officer last week took a turn when a group of people marched to the Sioux Empire Mall, where windows in that neighborhood were smashed out, and rocks were thrown at law enforcement officers.

 

The governor quickly activated nearly 100 National Guard and Air Guard soldiers to help local officials in an attempt to retain law and order.
