Noem orders State Capitol flags to half staff in memory of former Hamlin County lawmaker

PIERRE, S.D. – Governor Kristi Noem has ordered flags at the South Dakota State Capitol to be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. until sunset this Friday to honor the life of former State Representative Milton Lakness of Hazel.
Lakness represented Hamlin County and the surrounding area in the State House of Representatives from 1975 until 1980.
Private family services for Lakness are being held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church in rural Hayti.
Milton Lakness was 86 years old.
