“No Mow May” returns to Brookings
May 7, 2024
BROOKINGS, S.D.–In order to support pollinators, Brookings residents are encouraged not to mow their lawns the entire month of May.
This marks the second consecutive year of No Mow May in Brookings. The city’s Sustainability Council invites all residents to put away their lawnmowers for the month in order to improve habitats for pollinators, such as bees.
By June 7, all properties must be brought into compliance with the City’s vegetation management practices, which applies to lawns, grasses and weeds.
No violation notices will be issued during May.
