WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown Municipal Utilities Board of Directors met Monday to set utility rates for 2025.
Director of Administration Adam Karst says electric rates are going up one-percent next year. Water rates are going up five-percent, but natural gas rates are decreasing five-percent.
He says the bottom line for residential customers will be an increase in their overall monthly utility bill of about 76-cents a month.
The board also approved about $10 million in capital improvement projects for next year, the largest of which will be a cast iron water main replacement project.
Karst says that work will extend over both 2025 and 2026, with most of the work occuring in northwest Watertown.
