WATERTOWN, S.D.–Rob Cyrus has been hired as Watertown’s new airport manager.

Cyrus, who resides in Watertown, was most recently employed as the Military and Family Readiness Specialist for the South Dakota Army National Guard.

Prior to that, he spent 24 years in the Air Force, retiring as an E-8 Senior Master Sergeant.

Public Works Director Heath VonEye, who was part of the panel that conducted the interviews, says there were quality candidates nationwide who wanted this job…

VonEye said Cyrus, “has experience in numerous areas of airfield and airbase management, and extensive experience in coordinating vast projects involving staff, equipment, and resources.”

Cyrus will begin his new job sometime this month.

He replaces Todd Syhre, who resigned earlier this year to take a job in the private sector.
