WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–The city of Watertown is about to pull the plug on a contract with an Indiana-based company it hired less than a year ago to serve as a consultant for Watertown Regional Airport.

Volaire was hired in May 2022 at a rate of $66,000 a year to provide airline consulting services. The contract was due to run through May 31,2024.

But the airport board, at a meeting last week, recommended the contract be terminated early, and at tonight’s city council meeting, that recommendation could be finalized.

The recommendation is listed under the consent agenda for tonight’s meeting.

The city appears ready to circle back and review proposals they received from other airline consultants last year, and then do interviews and come forward with a new recommendation on who to hire.
